"A solid story marred by mistakes" according to Hairball. This is a book I feel conflicted about. On the one hand it has a very engaging story, and the author does a good job building the suspense as the book progresses. I really enjoyed the fact that the author does not give everything away right off the bat, but reveals clues through flashbacks and narration that help to not only drive the overall story but also help set the atmosphere. However, this book suffers from some flaws that constantly kick the reader out of the mood/story the book is trying to create. There are a lot of errors in this book, from the wrong word used in a sentence (cap instead of cab, not instead of nod), commas that shoul. K. Reynolds said Just what I hoped for - and rarely find.. This brought flashbacks to John Carpenter's "The Fog" (1980 - not the lame remake). Ripley hooked me in from the first chapter. My only disappointment - it's a novel rather than a trilogy. Still, it was genuinely worth the money if this is a genre you love. Children have been disappearing from the area around the old Boylan House for decades. Mason Philips watched one vanish one night when he was just 7-years-old & it has haunted him ever since. Now grown and a Marine Corps veteran, he returns to his hometown to investigate. What Mason uncovers kept me clicking those Kindle pages through the night! Characters are well drawn (liked them; want. "Great book, a page turner. Felt similar to Stephen Kings writing." according to D. Acuna. Great plot, enjoyed the twists and turns. Just when you thought things were at their bleakest a interesting turn takes place. I also loved the ending.
