Since then she's lived in Sydney, where she edited her university's student magazine; Amsterdam, where she worked as a foreign correspondent; and Hong Kong. Our Chemical Hearts is her debut novel.. She has no pets and no children, but is fond of naming inanimate objects: in the Netherlands she owned a Dutch bicycle called Kim Kardashian, and a small, inflatable velociraptor called Herbert. Krystal Sutherland was born and raised in Townsville, Australia, a

Krystal Sutherland's brilliant debut is equal parts wit and heartbreak, a potent reminder of the bittersweet bliss that is first love.. John Green meets Rainbow Rowell in this irresistible story of first love, broken hearts, and the golden seams that put them back together again. Henry Page has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic, but the slo-mo, heart palpitating, can't-eat-can't-sleep kind of love that he's been hoping for just hasn't been in the cards for him—at least not yet. Then Grace Town walks into his first period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything's about to change. Grace isn't who Henry pictured as his dream girl—she walks with a cane, wears oversized boys' clothes, and rarely seems to shower. It's like falling in love This is a book that you know is the one who will break your heart. You give it a chance even though you can already see the mountain of tissue and cat videos it will take to make you alright again when it dumps you on your rear. In the end, though, you will survive this catastrophic heart break, and you learn some things about love and about perspective. I enjoyed the journey - the funny, funny times and the bad, black ones as well. I thought about it all day and talked about it to folks who didn't care, and that means it is re. Fantastic. Really. Whenever a book description name checks really successful authors or books, I'm leery. But in this case, they're right. This really is John Green meets Rainbow Rowell. This book is great. Like Eleanor & Park great. Like Fault in Our Stars great. At first I was skittish, because Henry's voice is not a believable teenage boy. But I didn't even end up deducting a star for that - it's that good. The voice is very, very funny - I laughed out loud a couple of times (which I almost NEVER do when reading). But what's really admirable abou. "Valuable life lessons turned into a pretty good story" according to M.Jacobsen. I very much agree with the folks calling this a cross between Rainbow Rowell and John Green and as such this book is likely to be a welcome read among teen readers (I will admit, though, to being surprised by the young ages - as young as eleven - of the review quotes featured on the inside cover of this advance copy.eleven seems young to me for the subject matter, but what do I know?).I didn't have any problems with our narrator, Henry Young. Brainy, not overly good-looking (he describes himself as scandal-free, which is a way

Best of all, though, is the engaging story that unfolds at just the right pace, drawing the reader in as the stakes get higher and decisions must be made.”—VOYA.
