Good text, terrible translation I was very excited to see this edition of this intriguing classical work of Indian architecture. The Sanskrit text is clearly printed and very readable, but the accompanying English translation is very strange. The translator probably knows Sanskrit quite well, but the English is unreadable. Example: "Of air released having been harnessed by the manip. "it is important to note that even if the translation were perfect one cannot understand the technical aspects of this text" according to Dr. Jessie J. Mercay. While the English translation is not well done in parts of this text, it is important to note that even if the translation were perfect one cannot understand the technical aspects of this text unless they study Vaastu Shastra from a well trained person. I am not talking about someone who does contemporary vaastu rectification - that is all fake stuff.
