Having a BSEE from 1980 but never having worked as an EE, I bought this book to as a refresher and found it to be an excellent overview text. It progresses the usual way from the typical electrical fundamentals through basic component types to analyzing circuit parameters to some common circuit applications. Floyd has an easily readable style which provides the reader a solid general understanding of the components and concepts without getting too mathematical in trying to cover all theoretical possibilities. This book is more than plenty thorough for a technician course and provides a solid foundation for anyone to dive deeper in. Very good for a thorough and easy explanation of components J. D. Bialy Floyd does an excellent job of explaining the fundamentals of electronics with numerous examples and "slow motion" explanations of exactly how components such as capacitors and inductors work alone as well as together. He does not devote much time to solid state devices besides rectifiers, I suspect there's another book for that. I purchased a used version for only a few dollars, it's a good reference to have.. Mario said Four Stars. Great book for strudents and professors of first courses in Electronics Engineering and related studies.
