DESCRIPTION:

more than just Frankenstein I've always loved Frankenstein. At some point in time I decided to check out what other books Shelley had written. Mathilda had the best recommendations of her other books, so I picked it up. I really liked Mathilda. It had the same beautiful language as in Frankenstein, and the setting was described in detail too. Mathilda is definitely a gothic-Romantic, not romance, novel. The plot is dark and unique and is about a daughter, a deceased mother, a father who adores her a bit too much, and a love interest. If incest creeps you out just to mention it, this story might be too creepy for you. Th. A Hidden Classic Tiffany Andres Matilda is one of the biggest hidden classics in all of literature. Frankenstein is one of the most monumental books on popular culture. So why don't people read Shelley's other writing? For the longest time this book was held down and hidden from the public because of the incest theme that runs in it. It's truly a shame that it was kept away for so long. I think it's Shelley's best writing, possibly because this story hit close to home with her. It's a well written gothic masterpiece.. Dark, intense, and beautifully written mdk I am writing this review less than an hour after finishing Mathilda and less than twenty four hours after starting it. I can't remember ever reading anything so emotionally intense and so perfectly done. I can't believe it is not more well known. This, with Frankenstein, may make Shelley the greatest female author of all time.
